Project Overview

In early 2024, Rotrex supplied equipment for the Virginia Key expansion initiative, a critical infrastructure project aimed at enhancing electrical capabilities on Virginia Key, a small island near Miami. This project was pivotal for improving electrical substations and extending regional transmission lines.

The Challenge

The expansion involved a two-fold challenge: upgrading an existing electrical substation on Virginia Key and installing a new transmission line running under Biscayne Bay, through Port Miami on Dodge Island, and extending to Miami Beach. This required highly reliable equipment to manage complex cable-pulling operations efficiently which would be critical for the project’s success.

The Solution

Rotrex applied its renowned expertise in winching technology to address the project’s needs. Following a month of detailed consultations, Rotrex identified and provided the perfect cable reel jacks essential for ensuring smooth cable transitions during pulling operations.

Rotrex and there long term partner OMAC supplied engineers to the clients New Jersey premises. These experts gave detailed handover training and oversaw the setup of the equipment, guaranteeing it was installed and functioned correctly, for when the jacks reached site.

Execution

The cable reel jacks were delivered on time to Newark, New Jersey, preventing any delays and maintaining the project schedule. This timely and precise delivery was a testament to Rotrex’s dedication to offering reliable solutions and comprehensive support.
